WHAT IS THE cfsbank BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTER?

Connecting You to the Resources that Matter!

The Business Resource Center (BRC) was established to support future and existing small businesses within the Mid Mon Valley region.

The Center is located at 235 W Main Street in Monongahela, PA.

The BRC is both a program and a physical space of the Mon Valley Alliance Foundation. At the BRC, we provide educational opportunities, capacity building resources, and technical assistance for small businesses to launch, grow, and thrive.

To achieve this, we’ve forged partnerships with several organizations to ensure small businesses have access to a wide variety of supports and programs.

No handouts, just the “hand up” that we all need from time to time.

WHO IS THE MON VALLEY ALLIANCE FOUNDATION

The Mon Valley Alliance Foundation (MVAF), a 501(c)(3) organization based in Monongahela, PA, was established alongside its sister organization, the Mon Valley Alliance, a 501(c)(6). Both entities were originally created to support community development in the Mid Mon Valley, with a focus on transportation and industrial park infrastructure.

Today, the Foundation primarily dedicates its resources to small business development, as well as providing strategic and capacity-building support to local municipalities within the Mid Mon Valley.

At the MVAF, we connect Mid Mon Valley residents and entrepreneurs with essential resources to support their business needs, whether through educational workshops, one-on-one guidance, or a thoughtful referral to another organization best equipped to meet their specific challenges.

For decades, dedicated residents have worked tirelessly to support the Mid Mon Valley, even as the region faced decline and was often overlooked. We deeply value their efforts and share their commitment to revitalization. Our goal is to build on their work by fostering strong connections across the region and driving economic growth, transforming the Mid Mon Valley into a vibrant hub of opportunity and prosperity.

WHY IS THE MON VALLEY ALLIANCE FOUNDATION PRIORITIZING SUPPORT AND RESOURCES FOR SMALL BUSINESSES?

It's no secret that small businesses play a pivotal role in building strong, thriving communities. These local entrepreneurs are not only responsible for a significant share of job creation, but they also drive local wealth circulation. By keeping money within the community, small businesses advance economic stability and foster long-term growth.

The MVAF recognizes that small businesses within the Mid Mon Valley have unique challenges distinct from their peers elsewhere in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region. Since the Mid Mon Valley communities sit at an intersection of four local counties (Fayette, Greene, Washington, and Westmoreland) and are distant from their respective County seats, these small river towns have less access to resources and supports that are specifically designed to help businesses thrive.

We want all small business owners in the region to have access to the resources, and educational opportunities they seek for their businesses to grow, scale and thrive.
